When
I was 6, I wanted to be a veterinarian. Or maybe
a pilot. At 12, I wanted to teach sign language to
chimpanzees. I dreamed of writing best-selling novels,
becoming an olympic swimmer, traveling all over the
world.
At 17, I took a journey overseas
to study at Tel Aviv University in Israel, majoring
in anthropology and sociology. Three years later,
I took this knowledge out on the road to experiecnce
first hand the cultures and exotic lands of the Far
East. For 15 months, I backpacked across Japan, Thailand,
India, Nepal and Australia, exploring the back roads
of Asia. I fell in love with travel, the excitement
of discovering what was waiting around the corner,
and meeting people from around the world. I was fascinated
by what made us different and what was universally
the same.
Upon returning to the United States,
I found myself longing for my travels and wondering
where the future would take me. I moved to San Francisco
and, on the suggestion of a friend, enrolled at the
San Francisco Academy of Art College to study graphic
design. I was hooked from the start. So much of what
I loved was rolled up into one - art, photography,
business, design, problem solving and communication.
I love the many challenges in creating a strong,
graphic solution to convey a message, encompassing
an idea through color, or expressing a mood through
typography. I'd found my passion. I received my Bachelor
of Arts degree and dove into the world of graphic
design. After several years of working in the field,
I have ventured out on my own again to form Galanti
Design, doing what I love.
Still, that chimpanzee thing sounds
pretty great...
